Good news post — the like us, they really like us! Jango Radio streams all kinds of music and the listener can vote on it. If the artist is independent, the listener is begged for a vote and can even join a mailing list or follow a link right from the player window. Very clever. It is both a good listen as you craft your own stations or tune into others, and the statistics and real-time market research they provide to indie artists is unavailable anywhere else. Win win so far.
And 2MERICA is winning lately. See, each indie artist is given a total score each week, based on the performance of all of their songs, their profile, and some other voodoo. 2MERICA’s score was high enough this week to be awarded free credits – the 3rd time this year we’ve passed the grade and gotten some kickback. Rock on Jango Jugglers.
Next up — last.fm, an older and similar concept based on ranking songs and compiling them into stations. 2MERICA has not been on last.fm yet but keep an eye out. If any readers here use that service, let us know how to play the game over there.
Get your Jango on and hit me with some Spotify (why no USA love yet?). Check out thesixtyone.com. Put that with some college radio and Pandora, then check what’s happening on the Youtubes and you have some really current events. It’s about time!
(by Fucface Bookman, Associated Pruss) NORTHSIDE, RUSTOPIA – Can your numerous profiles, logins, accounts, sensors, switches and buttons combine into a single entity? How long would you last if everything you did in a day went into this single profile, nothing more than a record in the relational database that is 21st century life?
Not long says Ezrazmus Jones, which is why he fears such constant connectivity. The connectivity can only rationally remain constant if we are allowed multiple personalities.
“I have many” says Ezrazmus ‘Elemento’ Jones (not his real name), “and it’s a good thing. I can lurk, I can pull rank, I can drop my credentials, and I can hide them just as easily. Just like offline, you have no idea who you are dealing with unless you know me face to face in a real way. Asinine Intelligence will lead us astray.”
Hmm, pseudo-interesting point. So add to the discussion here on World Have Yer Say by commenting on if/how you manage to live online as a single entity or if you go the iSchizo route to protect the innocents.
Note that this blog is eaten alive by google, yahoo and bing spiders so you are being recorded (technorati won’t even take a nibble though!).
